Thank you for the warm welcome to Way Elementary, and for trusting me with your child’s education. It is an honor to serve our students, staff, and community.

My goal is for every child to wake up feeling excited to come to school. During the day, I want each student to feel safe, valued, and supported. And when your child returns home, I hope your evenings are filled with joyful stories about their learning and experiences.

I have devoted more than half my life to working in elementary education. My career began in Detroit Public Schools, where I spent seven years as a 4th-grade teacher, middle school math teacher, boys’ and girls’ basketball coach, and Academic Games coach. I then served as an elementary principal in Montague, Michigan, for two years before my family made the decision to return to southeast Michigan. For the past 18 years, I have been part of Oxford Community Schools- 16 of those as principal of Oxford Elementary School.

Many families in our area are what we call a “house divided.” I guess I’m a person divided! I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan and my master’s degree from Michigan State University. So—Go Blue! Go Green!

Outside of school, I’m a proud husband and parent. Two of my children attend the University of Michigan, and my stepchildren are wrapping up their high school careers at Oxford High. You can usually find our family at a soccer, lacrosse, tennis, hockey, or golf events, athletics are a big part of our lives. My children happily take up most of my free time, though my wife and I also enjoy cruising and working out when we can.

I am excited for the year ahead and look forward to building strong partnerships with each of you to make this an amazing experience for your children.

Educationally yours,
Mr. Jeff Brown
